Wayne Lineker's Early Life

Wayne Lineker was born on 25th April 1962 in Leicester (England) to parents Barry and Margaret. He is the younger brother of football legend Gary Lineker, who is two years his senior. Wayne and Gary Lineker went down two completely different career paths, but the two supported each other in achieving their dreams and have a very close bond.

Before becoming a successful businessman, Wayne Lineker went to Caldecote Road School in his hometown Leicester, but left when he was 14 years old to pursue other interests. The Lineker Brothers

Wayne spent his childhood growing up in Leicester with his older brother, Gary, playing football for Leicester City Football Club. Their father, Barry, was a greengrocer, as was their grandfather, William and great-grandfather, George. Barry Lineker ran the three-generation Lineker’s fruit and veg stall in Leicester Market, and as children, Gary and Wayne would often help out on the stall.

Although Gary went on to become a footballer professionally, Wayne didn’t feel fulfilled playing football and so turned away from the sport in favour of the party lifestyle and the nightclub scene.

In 2013, Wayne appeared on the hit UK series The Only Way Is Essex when they were filming out in Marbella. His storyline was that he was vying for the attention of TOWIE cast member Lauren Pope, although his feelings for her weren’t reciprocated.

Most recently, in January 2021, Wayne appeared on Channel 4’s Celebs Go Dating where he starred alongside Chloe Ferry, Curtis Pritchard, Karim Zeroual, Kimberly Hart Simpson, Sophie Hermann and Tom Zanetti. These two shows kicked of his reality TV career and gave him an extra sprinkle of fame.

Engagement to Chloe Ferry

Upon emerging from the Celebs Go Dating mansion, Wayne posted a photo on his Instagram account of himself alongside Celebs Go Dating star, Chloe Ferry, sporting a diamond ring on her finger, along with the caption ‘She said YES!’ appearing that the pair had gotten engaged. The post went viral, being picked up by some media outlets that Wayne and Chloe were engaged. The news came out of the blue and totally baffled fans.

This news, however, ended up being nothing more than a prank between the two, who became close friends during the mansion. They thought it would be funny to trick their fans into thinking they were engaged. So now Wayne can add "practical joker" to his list.

The keen entrepreneur extended his business to restaurants, including The Skinny Kitchen and the Tibu Rooftop Restaurant in Puerto Banus. Wayne Lineker also converted a number of his bars into family-friendly destinations.
